Here is the modification for the 690 LC4 engine.....(Dirttricks Timing chain tensioner)
Hello & Thanks for your note, here is a run down.
The cap is twice as deep as the small motor KTM's so the spring would
need to be twice as long. There is also an issue with the 'o' ring and
interference caused by KTM putting a groove on your motor for the 'o'
ring to sit. The ridge on our part to prevent it from sliding around
would need to be machined smooth, just like the stock unit.
You could use the part as it is, but as your timing chain/sprockets
wear, the tensioner would stop keeping tension because the spring would
be too short. The ridge around the outside of the unit hangs up on that
recess for the 'o' ring. I am not sure what kind of issues this may
cause as again we do not have a motor of this kind here to test. There
are guys out there using this part on the 690 motor. I know one of them
has machined the ridge off, and acquired a longer spring and says its
working great. Unless you have the mechanical ability to address and
correct these issues, we do not recommend using it -as it has not been
tested by us (on your 690 motor). Hope this helps, if not please feel
free to call us with additional questions.
