I have the FMF apex on mine as well and I had my KTM dealer do the Remap they put in the Akra map and yes it helps a lot the bike is very smooth and being quiet will not be an issue. As for the sproket change I have the factory gearing and I can torque up in the first 3 and torque up in 4 while standing 1st is almost useless if you want the front wheel on the ground. The bike would be insane with a one tooth drop. Have fun!! The speedo picks up from the front wheel so a sproket change will not affect it
