Default '09 990 ADV R stranded for third day, ideas needed!

I need some ideas, quick. I got stuck in a sandy river crossing Saturday mid afternoon while riding alone. When the bike ground to a halt the tail pipe was below the water level, although the intake was above the water. I was able to get it to shore by myself. I took off the tanks and checked the air filter, which was dry and there was no water in the air box. I thumbed the starter for a split second. It turned slightly and it was pretty obvious that there was water in the cylinders. Not having a plug wrench yet, I called the wife and had her come get me. Went back out today better prepared and pulled the plugs and suctioned about a quart of water out of the exhaust with an oil evacuator. Today however the engine wouldn't turn over at all so I put it in a high gear and spun the rear wheel forward to blow the water out of the cylinders. It spit out a fair amount. I left the plugs out while I did an oil change and filter and cleaned the oil screens. Dried the plugs with brake cleaner back and buttoned it back up. When I turn on the key it does the diagnostic where it lights up all the idiot lights and sweeps the tach needle and strikes the HID headlight. But when I thumb the starter - nothing, and the theft prevention light with the little padlock icon flashes and the FI light comes on. Any ideas? I'd like to ride it out of there, but I don't want to leave it parked beside the road another night and with more rain tomorrow I'll probably call in the vehicle recovery profe$$ional$ if nobody here has any ideas.

Are you sure the battery has enough charge left (or did you jump start it)?

I'd start opening connectors and using contact cleaner to dry them out.

It does sound electrical.

Let me ask around this morning.

Here are a couple more suggestions from some other
riders.

"Been thru all the fuses?"

"If this is stock, it probably has catalitic converters with sensors to monitor all emisions....could be related as water on a 2000 degree cat would not be good?

Or it could be simple and the side stand switch is shorted?"

So when you hit the starter button, thee's no click at all? I wonder if the starter solenoid is cabbage. Was the starter submerged?

Back from the land of dead threads! I just realized I never reported back. It ended up being of my own doing, like most of my problems in life!

On the 09 990Advs there are two black keys and one orange key, except the orange key isn't a key. The dealer I purchased the bike from didn't send my the owner's manual so I didn't get the orange key thing sorted out until I got through to somebody at KTM-NA and they emailed me a copy of the owner's manual which emphatically stated that the orange key isn't a key, but a code tool to deprogram and reprogram the actual keys. When I grabbed the code tool and used it as a key it disabled the ignition and the other keys until I used the code tool once more to reprogram the keys.

Once I got that sorted the creek flooded and washed out both crossings so I had to leave the bike out there for most of a week. I finally got a friend to go out there in his lifted superduty since the county didn't want to repair the crossings until the water had gone down, and it was still high enough that I was wary of ending up in a similar situation if I attempted to ride across.

Other than a problem with crud in the tank fresh from the factory and a clogged fuel filter that the dealer took three tries to diagnose correctly, the bike has run like a champ! I took it on a trip to big bend a few months ago and it performed flawlessly.
