New Top End Locked Up

I had a new top end put on and the shop said the engine locked up when they were testing it. What would cause that? Is it likely something they did or could it be something else?

If it turned before they worked on it, my bet would be they
messed up.

Could be an over size piston, broken ring or rings.

I'd be talking to the owner/manager about making it right.

Yes, it did turn over before I brought it in. In fact, my son rode it for about 2 hours the day before we brought it in. No problems that day except you could tell the power wasn't what it use to be and it wasn't running as smooth.
