Default jd jet kit or not

Hi, I,ve just purchased a 2000 exc400 and are thinking of fitting a jd jetting kit and maybe changing the muffler . If anyone could give me advice on both mods it would be greatly appreciated . Or anything else to improve the bike .Thanks Grum.

In my 450 I went with the JD kit, and used the red needle.

These bikes are lean from the factory, and the JD kit is a cheap
easy fix. More throttle response, better MPG.

What exhaust are you thinking of going to?

Changing the muffler won't make a big difference horsepower wise, it might
reduce weight a bit. To get a real HP boost, you need header back entire
exhaust. It's too much money IMHO.

Thanks for that I,ll give the muffler a miss and fit the jd kit. One of my friends just gave me a red needle and jets. I live at sea level so I will have to find out if it will work or if I,ll have to get a blue needle .Thanks Grum.
