I bought spiked tires recently. I also couldn't easily find tips in English about riding in winter, so I thought I'd post this here.
I have tires with about 300 25mm studs in each. I was told that low tire pressure is better, it allows the studs to fall if necessary, and lets get good contact with ground better. I have 0.5 bar in rear tire and 0.7 bar in front tire.
Another thing is, I will try to cover the air filter case so it will suck air from underneath the seat, and a little more forward than now. Otherwise soft snow will quickly pack into air filter case, make the engine go rich and eventually not run.
Then, shoes with easy sliding bottoms are a must. It is darn near impossible to ride wheel wide track and maintain your balance without using your feet.
Fourth thing, I will try to find some non-gliding material on top of seat or trousers which would do the same. The bench will get slippery from snow and ice, and it gets hard on hands.
Fun stuff
(definetly not me)
