K&N Filter vs. Stock Duke 690 Air Filter?
I called a tuner and told him I'd be in soon for a tune, but was waiting to get my K&N Filter (SXS filter in the KTM Hard Parts catalog) and he told me not to bother since the stock Duke III air filter flows more air.
I've tuned several of my cars on the dyno, and a paper filter element has NEVER out flowed a gauze type filter of any kind. So I'm kinda wondering where he got this idea from. He may be right in the case of the Duke, but I've never seen this being the case in automotive applications.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
