coolant issues
Hi,
I've had my 2008 model SD 990 for 12 months and have put 27000k on it of weekend riding.
Its always used about 300ml of oil for every 1000k's, but now the coolant level is dropping dramatically as well.
It overheated one night riding home and the warning light came on. I checked the coolant level the next morning. The coolant bottle was empty and the radiator itself was near empty. It was full previous to the ride.
So i booked it into the shop to see what the problem was. They gave it back to me and said that the radiator cap was faulty.
I rode it again with the coolant levels full, and after 200k's i checked the level again, the bottle was empty and the radiator was near empty again.
The bike shop is telling me that the hoses had expanded when the bike overheated that time, and the coolant must be getting past the hoses somehow, but i can never find any trace of coolant leaking from the bike when i'm out on a ride.
I'm wondering if there may be a problem with the thermostat.
Has anyone here with a KTM 990 Superduke had any similar problems.
Please help!!
Chris
