Question Looking to buy a 02 Duke II, need some pointers before buying..

Well, looking to buy a 2002 Duke 2 with 6300 miles on her. I just wanted to know what to look for when test riding and while hearing it run.
Also is there any way to tell if the main bearing has ever been replaced or not?

I contacted my local KTM dealer to get a estimate on a complete service ( oil change, valve adjustment etc.) They quoted me at 275 bucks does that sound about right? I heard that the oil changes are a pain in the butt...?

thanks for you help...

FWIW:
Unfortunately if you can't ask the last owners if the bearing was
changed, you have to pull the clutch basket to check.
Having said that, at 6300 miles, I'd want to find out.

$275 does not sound too high for valves, and oil change.

The oil change (frame filter, and case filter) takes me
about 1.5 hours from start to finish (I've done it 10 times on
my 2002).
Valve adjustment is easy, it's just getting all the stuff out
of the way that is time consuming.

If the engine starts easy, idles, goes through the gears, and has power it is probably in good shape.

The big problems with any high revving single is the oil not being
changed enough, or not using synthetic oil. My owners manual has
a warning SYNTHETIC OIL ONLY. Ask the guy how often he changed
the oil, and what he used.

The only other thing to look for, it some LC4 engines weep oil (which
can turn into a leak later) a the valve rocker arm housing, and the head.

Since the Duke is a street bike, you really should not have the
chassis issues, that the dirt LC4s have.
