Sorry for pestering, the sound is getting quite disturbing/scary, mainly when going over rough roads, or sometimes under light acceleration.

That sounds like the chain is loose and slapping/snatching which is most likely to happen under light acceleration and low rpm's. That's pretty normal for these bikes; keep the revs up higher. When it's too tight it'll make a grunching type noise and probably cause some vibration.

The 5mm is from the top of the chain to the swingarm which you measure after you've pushed the chain up tight toward the swingarm. Do this at the center rib on the swingarm.

OK, so I finally changed my ORIGINAL Spark plug!(20,186mi) The original is showing a leaner color (light grey/tan) This bike is stock. The bike really is running strong in the colder air on these Nov mornings!

DOes it feel any better the new plug?

On the other hand, my duke R has 700 km on it. "I don't fit inside me" is what we tipically say in here in Spain. Bike is great and runs smoothier and better every day. Just loving it.

(I think its the cooler denser air and more fuel being present as the FI adjusts to that)....but Im sure the new plug helps with a cleaner spark.

Morpheus, my '10 Duke is stock, too, so this is interesting since I'm too lazy to pull my plug and look at it. I've been pondering getting a Memjet which will richen it up a little everywhere. It looks like it might be worth it.

BTW, I'm up to 5k miles now which I got in May. I'll likely do more next season. Unless of course I trade in on the R. If it comes to the USA that is.

Schloemoe, I am in Penang, normally for me I just drive my duke 690 to PC everything I have any problem ... maybe I am very near to the main distributor in Malaysia ...
