Default 690 duke Remus exhaust help

fitted a Remus full system to my bike today and quiet frankly i am very disappointed seem to have lost midrange power. i don't have any staling issues and tickover is steady
would a akra map sort the mid range out?
also Ive not removed the db killer inside cant see how more noise will give more power, any ideas guys. don't want to put standard pipe back on but if that is the only way to get the lost power back then i'l have no choice

Try it out first without the baffle. If the sound level is acceptable, then fine. If not, then you can try different maps, but make sure to contact someone with remus firts. Take a look at this thread http://www.supermotojunkie.com/showt...Y-thread/page3

SIngle cilinders are a bit hard on exhausts (because of backpressure needs). For example, FMF has stopped selling duke model because of different running problems. So far, the best one running on the bike is Leovince with stock map, but knowing that you only improve sound, fairly non power or torque.

Akra exhaust with its map is (for the price and sometimes problems) not the best choice.

Hope this helps.

Default rumus exhaust

crissis thanks for the link seen that post already i think Ive read most post on all the forums to do with exhaust. in the link someone did mention about loosing midrange torque in return for top end i think that is happening to my bike, spoke to my local dealer all he did is try to talk me into buying akra but the price is just just stupid and no guarantee that the bike will run OK. tried Remus with baffle out just now its the same just more noise, i think i will put standard pipe back on as apart from the crap sound it dose make good power midrange.

Sorry to hear this. I have tried both the FMF and a custom made pipe and have always found that they cause problems and/or don't offer much performance gain (except the FMF with no baffle but then it was so loud I couldn't use it). The truth is that the stock pipe is very very good. It sounds pathetic but the flow is really good. If you consider that the 690SM and SMC both make 63hp and the Duke makes 65hp - ask yourself where that axtra 2hp comes from? Same motors - different exhausts.

I am now running my bike almost stock but with the airbox opened up (see supermotojunkie thread by me) plus the latest tuneboy map for a stock bike with stock exhaust. The bike is a beast AND with the induction noise sounds really good. With stock gearing the bike power wheelies in second gear with no effort.

had a look at supermoto junkie very interesting thread, But opening up the air box will let more air in and give a nice induction sound but wouldn't more air mean more fuel is needed sow wouldn't it be cheaper to add a resistor to the air flow sensor wires and save the tuneboy money.Any way i decided to stick with stock pipe but is there a way of getting a little more sound without going seriously drastic like the one on the other forum? maybe a well placed hole inside the exit, one more thing what is difference between drilling holes in the air box, and leaving a gap on filter cover IE fitting the/a cover that a bit shorter?

Default Aftermarket exhaust

found a cheap Leo Vince sbk in a bike mag exhaust it came with a round disc with big holes in it i haven't seen any mention of this in any thread's so i fitted it, it fits inside the front of silencer and is held in place by the sliding part of the inlet pipe, don't no if it makes any difference as i didn't try it without dose anyone no what it is?. also seem to have lost the power band between 4500 to 7000 revs it was the same with Remus pipe, is this typical of aftermarket pipes as the midrange kick was best thing about OE silencer. do i need a map?
thanks race d
