I agree with the above. Just don't understand why the RC8 is in and the Dukes are out.
I have not seen one RC8 on public roads on my usual roads.
BTW you can still buy new Duke 2010 just go to craigslist and use bay area, there is one in Tri Moto Valley

I think because the RC8 is being raced in the US in 2012, for rules reasons it needs to be on the showroom floor. That is really the only reason I can think of that KTM would bother having it in the states. Its so NOT a US market bike, its VERY european and the RC8 doesn't have that appeal sadly. The Ducati superbikes are far more sexy and they're everywhere in California, they seem to grow on trees!

Thanks for the info on the Duke. I would like to ride one before I buy one. If I find someone local I'll bounce out to try it!

Ahh, Hmm...

Sorry to dig up this old thread.

Just found a NEW 09' Duke 690 at a local dealer. Paid $50 bux over cost and have fallen in-love (as expected).

Having put close to 200 miles on it already (slowly breaking it in) I must admit, this bike is designed for real motorcycle enthusiasts in mind. Its basically a dirt bike with a big motor designed for the streets. I love everything about it besides the wind buffeting at high speeds and I'm hoping a wind screen will fix some of that (ordering one tomorrow). But its exactly the bike I want, it fits my daily riding needs to a T and for weekend stints in the canyons or to get food with friends, its perfect. Yea, yea its not a long-distance touring bike, but thats what I have a Tacoma for! Nice, comfy and holds 2 bikes in the back! LOL
