Default Eotech Fender Eliminator

I just couldn't leave that big plastic rear fender extension on my 08 Duke, particularly with the galvanized bent steel bracket for the reflectors and license plate. The whole thing is totally out of character with the high tech-engineered personality of the KTM. I thought about using a Dremel and doing a chop job-home made bracket, but knew that wouldn't be right.

I bought an Evotech Tail Tidy from a guy in Fla on Ebay. It was $125 after shipping----a HUGE amount of money for a little bracket. However, it is very well made, CNC machined, includes all wiring, LED lic lite, hardware, zip ties, etc. Installation was straight forward and about a 2 on a 1-10 scale of difficulty. I can't think of any other one thing that would improve the looks of the bike as much as this--it looks great. (no photos, trust me)

If your fender extension doesn't bother you, fine, but if you feel the need to change it, try the Evotech.

A small problem has developed, and maybe someone can help. When I was re-attaching the left grab handle the rear nut--the one inside the tail section--had disappeared. I've fished around as best I can with a magnet, and it looks like I'll have to take the tail apart to find it.

There are black plastic wedge shaped spacers inside the tail between the handle and the frame. Do these hold the nuts ?

Anyone know how the grab handle nuts are retained inside the tail section?

I pulled the tail section off and found the left rear-most nut that holds the grab rail had come loose from its tab. PITA. You can't deal with it without removing all the rear plastic. Used just a tiny bit of JB weld to put it back.

Default Tail Removal?

Hey Sherco,

Can you offer any advice on how to remove the tail? I don't have a shop manual, and the owners manual does not cover that.

Thanks!
Mike

I recall it was only a moderate PITA--the rear side panels have to come off and also the grab handles. It is the time to remove the charcoal cannister while you have it opened up. The fender kit is complete and the fit was excellent.
