Default Removing headlight gauge assembly for track?

Hi guys,

I was thinking about doing a few lapping days this season. I would like to remove the entire front assy. and replace it with a moto style number plate.

I would like to know if, I did this, will it effect anything on the bike while it's off?

Basically, does the bike need anything in the gauge pod to run?

Seems to me it's designed to come off as a one piece unit with the front turn signals.

Any help here would be great before I resort to trial and error

BTW: would this have been better asked in the SM forum?

It's a 2010 690 Duke.

From what I can tell, you should be fine doing this. Take it off first, and test it out before you run the moto!!

So what is the outcome? Did you take any picture after replacing it with a race number plate? Does it look like any one of these?
