Default Part # of low ergo seat for a 2010 KTM 690 Duke III

Hi all,

I just purchased a new 690 Duke III and arranged a low seat with it.
On the order confirmation I found that the dealer ordered a seat with part# 75007040100 Ergo seat low, but it seems that this only lowers the seat height of a Supermoto and not on a Duke (description, quote: Duke: Height ident to standardseat/ Supermoto: – 20 mm)
I'm in doubt if this is the right (low) seat for my Duke. There's also the 60007040100 seat (description quote: Ergo seat. Thanks to its high intrinsic damping effect, the specially developed gel insert relieves the spine and improves the ride comfort, particularly over long distances. Thanks to a 20 mm reduced seat height, ...)

So before the dealers fits a seat that's wrong, please tell me if the ordered seat is correct of if the dealer should order a different seat to lower the seat height.

Quick responses would be very appreciated

Cheers,

Thanks. I think you meant "you can't"?

So I could take the stock seat out to an upholstery guy that could "shave" some foam off and it'll be lower than stock height.

Anymore suggestions?

Shaving it down is really your only choice, but it's easy
enough to just learn to one foot the bike. (only way I can ride it)

Well, I used to ride the 750 Laverda's (the massive ones from Breganze) and these were high AND heavy. Tipped over only once....

I'll just wait and see how the bike is with the Ergo seat when I pick it up on Saturday. And I might experiment with the stock seat should there still be a need to get a more secure foot-pavement feel.

I just have to keep on riding, I guess.......

I have a Corbin that they made a little lower for my stubby legs. The Corbin is a little pricey, but it's leather, high quality, comfortable, and the place your butt spends a lot of time. If you call them to order, ask for "Martha"---she took good care of me.

Today I picked up my new Duke. Wow, amazing how vibration free and free revving this engine is. Above 4.000 rpm it seems as if there's a twin cilinder engine at work! Considering its low mileage (now 100 km) I couldn't really test performance but definately is a lot quiker than my previous Yammie XT660 Aprilia engined Pegaso Strada, and that one even had all the mods including PCIII and open Akras.
It just keeps on pulling from 4.000. A lot less snatchy than expected under 3.500 rpm but don't try to potter around at 2.500 rpm, it'll hit on the drive train.

Yes: "ride it like you stole it" definately is the most fun riding style on this bike.

Handling is like a 250 road bike and still very stable at higher speeds (did a short run of just over 140 km/h, with warmed up engine, of course).

Ergo seat low is still rock hard, will see if my own fleshy seat cushions can get used to it. I checked difference in seat height betweeen stock and low ergo seat and ergo seat really is 0.5" lower.
At home I adjusted the gear-/clutch-/foot-/brake levers and handle bars to my personal preferences. I hate it when the bar ends go up like on a dirt bike. Gear lever was set too high making upward shifting less accurate. But the gearbox really is very smooth, clutchless upshifting works great.
Had to re-route the front brake line/throttle cables to be able to adjust the lever a bit downwards. Now it has more playroom and throttle action is really smooth now. Front brake lever (Brembo) is shorter than clutch lever (Magura), by the way.

So far I'm really exited about my Duke, I was pleased with the 660 Aprilia, but this bike just is lighter, quicker, more compact and greater looking.

Just one question: Mine's a Duke JP (specs for Japan?) and my ignition mapping dial is set to zero. I suppose that's the same setting as 3? Or will setting it to 3 unleash the beast?

Will post pics soon.
