Default 2010 690 Duke Slight Surge

Love my Duke, but one slight concern is that when traveling around 80KM/50MPH in 3rd gear around 5000RPM the bike feels like it has a slight surge/miss when the throttle is held steady. Anyone have a cure for this? I have upgraded the exhaust to a Leo Vince, but the surge was present with the stock exhaust anyways. Any ideas/suggestions? Cheers!

I wonder if this is the fuel injection mapping issue that I've
read about.

This is about the SM 690, but I am guessing it should apply to
all 690 FI engines.

Hope this helps.

I do not have any surge on my Duke 690 2010. I'm on completely stock setting with 2, 3rd gear restrictions removed. I'm also using the 2 map which is more aggressive but still much smoother then my previous bike (Dorsoduro 2009). There are few threads about throttle adjustment and synchronization that you should do (or the dealer), especially after you change anything related to intake (air filter), outtake (exhaust).

Default Question about your set-up

You mentioned the 3rd gear restriction mod - You mean the sensor wiring (disabling the 2 sensors wires) for the intake sensor? What made you do the mod? What difference in riding did it make? Thanks in advance.

Yes that is the mod I'm talking about.
I did it while 600 miles 1st service. I did the mod after reading about it in one of the thread:
http://www.ktmforums.com/forums/duke...-690-mods.html
I cant tell the different because I never rode the bike under full acceleration during the break in period. The purpose of the mod is to allow you to get all the fuel you need under heavy acceleration on 2-3. I believe that the restriction allows the Duke to pass emission regulations which are done while in low speed 2-3 gears. This mod should make a different under full throttle acceleration on 2nd and 3rd gears (does not sound like your symptom).
Now since you installed more open slip on your bike is running leaner, might causing surging. You might consider the following actions:

Good luck

Thanks for the links! I am going to try the air sensor mod this weekend and see what happens. With all the freakin rain we have had here, wondering if I will get to ride at all - LOL! Thanks again!

Default Surge Update

Good news! Did the air sensor wiring mod - no difference (immediately). But as I get closer to my first service interval (1K) - I have found that the surge is lessening. Maybe this is just part of the break-in adjustment on the bike?
Regardless - time/break-in period seems to be a cure (or I am just getting used to it - LOL!) Thanks everyone for your tips/advice!
