Default New Duke Rider Here!

Hey guys, new to KTM and dirtbikes in general. I just picked up a sickass 08 Duke 690 this weekend. So far I love this thing. It looks soo good. The sound is awesome and LOUD. It also handles like no other bike I've ever felt. My other bike is a Honda CBR954RR so this duke feels very slow compared to it, but still fast enough for me!

It has an FMF pipe on it which looks and sounds amazing. The only problem i'm having with this bike is it likes to die when I take off at stoplights. I'm not sure why but its not fun when it happens in traffic. So far the duke has died a total of 5 times on me in 2 days AND the battery died..... i'm taking it back to the dealer to have it checked out. I don't think its the charging system because when I jumped the bike back to life it stayed running strong.

Below is a pic of my duke

Can someone inform me of how to remap the ecu on these bikes? Since it has an aftermarket exhuast I want to make sure it's not causing a fouled plug or running too lean. Do I have to get a powercommander like I did for my rocket?

you can get a program for your laptop called tuneboy but when i put my fmf pipe on i had the dealer reflash the pcm for me. its not the full race tune its the next one down from it and mine has no stalling issues......where in the midwest are you from?

So do I need a powercommander? I am in Nebraskatucky. Home of corn and boringness. Our roads are all in a grid pattern. Very easy to find your way around but omg is it repetitive.

no you dont need one. the stock pcm can be flashed with new tunes to make it run better. you can get a power commander but it overides the pcm. if you are computer literate and understand program type stuff you can get tuneboy with a cable and connect to your pcm yourself and basically make your own tunes or adjust them.......nobody really runs the power commander (PCV) on these bikes because it just came out about 3 months ago for the 690's........

Took the duke into the stealership after a long aggrivating ride through 5:00 traffic. They did a load test on the battery and it turned out to be bad so they replaced it. So far so good, haven't gotten to ride it much because of the lack of warm weather and sunlight and freetime. Does anyone have a front sprocket cover and tire hugger they would like to sell?

Default Stalling issues

Guys, I'm going to point my grandson to this site. He's got a 2010 690 Duke with 600 miles that has left him stranded twice!!!
