Buying 2017 690 this weekend

I'm buying the 690 this weekend as a commuter and weekend play bike. I couldn't find a single 2016 for sale so I figure it has got to be a good bike. Any issues with them? I am 6'1" 210LBS with gear will I need to modify suspension to enjoy it?

1. You're going to enjoy it. It is like nothing else.

2. I'd start with the issues, but I think there is a word limit on each post. It has plenty, the only one that has no solution is the cylinder head. It is feeble and KTM should hang their fcuken heads (pardon the pun) on this one. It is a disgrace!

3. 6'1" - 201lbs. Not being metric is an issue, and being 1.85M and 95kgs are two more issues, but there are bigger Fellas here who LOVE the bike.

4. It is full of paradoxes and quirks, but you're on a unique machine that will tick many boxes you did not even know existed.

If it is 2017 model the head and camchain is changed so hopefully no problems. Probably the same fuel pump as before, that is something that could fail.

Also you need to buy some type of locktite and a handful of ekstra bolts

seems like the battery KTM sends the bike with also gives people problems, 99% of electrical gremlins i've seen om the web are solved with a new battery.

You're suggesting the 2016 is bullet proof like it should be by now, right?

I think Cors is saying it's not the same as the 2012-2015 (which, by the way, I didn't know where supposed to be bad). So, really, we are going all the way back to the start of the board and waiting to see what happens...if anything.

Good Advice!

Forget error codes. Check your battery. It loves giving you error codes when its not up to scratch.

.....what'd I miss about cylinder head problems on the 16?
...............what happens......?
IS IT BAD?!

OH GOD PANIC

OP,

I'm 6' 5" and 230lbs. it's a blast, suspension is a tad soft.
I keep up with my friends on their triumph 675r's in the canyons quite easily though.
would look into a suspension upgrade if doing anything super hardcore. Probably upgrading next year for me.
