Default Shift lever hanging up

I have a 2011 RC8R and my shift lever hangs up on the spring on the kickstand when downshifting. I have to lift up slightly on it to get it to free up.

Has anyone else had this issue?

No, haven't had that issue, although there's not a lot of clearance between the linkage and the spring. Maybe if you removed the rubber cover from the spring you'd get the clearance you need.

Its actually catching on the spring that's exposed right at the end of the spring, not hanging up on the rubber.

I would check to make sure the shifter linkages are all taught, no loose bolts, and make sure your shifter adjustment rod is mounted correctly and adjusted correctly. Minor adjustments will lower/raise the shifter lever stub.

If you have removed the shifter adjustment rod completely, make sure it is mounted correctly ... the eyelet towards the front of the bike in mounted in front of its mounting point (away from the bike), the one towards the rear directly under the foot peg, is mounted behind its mounting point (toward the bike).

I had the pegs in the lower position and could have adjusted the lever up to clear the spring, but I have some limited mobility in my left ankle so I need to adjust it down slightly. The mechanic acknowledged that it was hanging on the spring. He put a small spacer in where the footpeg mount is mounted to the frame along with a couple longer bolts, moving the whole footpeg/shifter assembly out about a quarter of an inch. Just enough to now clear the spring.
