Default Where did my oil go?

Took my 2010 KTM RC8R to a track day and went at about 80% for only 3 sessions, about 60 miles. Came home and checked oil and it barely touches the dipstick. I knew she would eat a little oil, but that much? No leaks, bike seems to run fine, is this common for the LC8 engine?

Thanks,
DP

Is she pretty well broken in? Might be a little higher consumption on a new engine. Unfortunate that there are so few RC8s in the US. A very small pool of experience to draw from.

I know it's not the same engine, but...

On my LC4 it's says to run the engine for about 5 minutes, shut
it down and wait five minutes and have the bike level.

If I check it cold it shows low because the oil is on the stator side.

Interesting, the manual simply states to check oil when bike is straight and level. But it does have a dual stage process for oiling fill: 3litres initial fill, run engine for a few minutes, then complete final 0.6 litres fill and check level. I dig in a little deeper.

I don't have a side stand and use the Bursig paddock stand so the bike is always at level position. I suspect leaning the bike will allow oil in upper areas of the engine to channel it's way down, but I'll check the fine print again.

Thanks,
David

That's what I had suspected, but not so dramatic. I only have 900 miles on the bike, the first 650 miles were per the break-in instructions with no upgrades, then I did first service and changed the oil using recommended Motorex 10W50 Power Synt 4T. I then installed exhaust, filter and ran it on the street for a few hundred miles ... very casual (maybe too casual) riding. Then I removed SAS, installed Bazzaz units, had her dyno'd and went to MidOhio.

I do remember the oil level being a little higher than required, that may explain the excessive consumption.

Thanks,
David

My RC8R also used a bit of oil at the track, just above the bottom ball after two days. 879 or so miles, so I will assume that is normal-ish.

normal IMO.

my previous LC8 will consume about a liter between every oil change. it will get better as you get over 10k miles.
