Default Stock exhaust modification?

Hello, first post on this forum, just picked up a brand new 2010 RC8 last night. I would really like to get a little more/deeper sound out of the stock exhaust and am curious if anybody has opened it up to take a look inside and or remove some of the baffling? Is this a crazy stupid idea or worth tinkering with? Thanks in advance!

i took the exhaust off getting it ready to wrap up in fiber glass packing. It does not look like there is much that can be done with the stock exhaust.

I was pretty sure that was the case, my risky plan is to take a cutoff disc to the perimeter of the exhaust (along the weld), open her up and remove some packing, then re weld it back together. I dont see anything that could go horribly wrong, will probably try it here next weekend.

oh i see. If your going to do some welding i'm guessing it should work. just make sure you weld it back on good.

Are you wrapping yours to reduce some heat that comes off of it?

yeah thats why I'm wrapping it up. it's ridiculous how much heat comes on to my leg. I know the long term answer is another exhaust but it will have to be a month before i can pick one up.

Onto your right leg? You think the heat is coming from the exhaust canister itself? Seems like to me it is coming through the right fairing from the front cylinder, id love to find a way to knock that heat down if possible.

i found on another forum that someone wrapped the balance pipe that runs between the header. he said it fixed his heat issue. I should be able to finish mine tonight and test it tomorrow I'll post up pics of it tomorrow and test it.
