Exclamation Ahhh I might of broke something, can any RC8 owner turn their key and let me know

I was taking some electrical measurements from the turn signals and brake wires in hopes that I could remove the turn signals all together and use the 2 rows of LED brake lights as my signals as well.

Im not sure why but when I turn my key to ON, the rear brake light does not dimly come on. I am pretty sure it is suppose to be on (daytime rear running light) but it is not. Does your tail light come on when you turn your key to ON? Thanks! (Specifically I am wrenching on a 2010 RC8 if that matters).

The tail light should come on when the ignition is on. Mine does anyway.

Did you disconnect anything?

Thanks so much for the lightning fast reply. Looks like I have this guys problem:

Any guesses why? Its a simple 4 pin connector that connects the tailight to the rest of the system. Power "from the bike" outputs fine, seems like something within the headlight housing is touchy.

That's weird. Did you disassemble anything to take your readings?

Oh yeah, took the rear tail section completely apart to access the stupid taillight connector. I should clarify, I was having the guy in the videos problem with the rear end torn apart, once I put everything back together it works just fine, weird how the parking light could be effected by a loose bolt...

For what its worth, both strips of LEDs in the taillight are wired together internally, without breaking the seals of the taillight housing there is no way to get one strip do light differently than the other strip. No worries, now to dream up a custom turn signal kit and CNC it!

I'll be interested in seeing what you come up with.

The RC8 if the first bike that I've had in a long time that I didn't immediately want to change out the the rear signals and tag holder. There was actually some design consideration taken in coming up with that configuration. Kind of like it.

Oh I completely agree, aesthetics sold me on this bike as it looks like no other. Personally the turn signals/license plate holder kind of look like grasshopper eyes with a weird nose :P I love the tail light and want it to be shown without any "clutter". Too each his own I guess Thanks again for the quick help!
