Question Bleeding shocks, when and why?

Made a handful of adjustments to my front and rear shocks. On the rear I set the damping and compression to sport settings and on the front I set the damping to 8 (a happy medium). Forgive me for asking such a n00b question but when should I bleed the shocks and why?

There's no reason that I know of on a stock bike. If you had fiddled with the internals there might be a need for that, but I can't think of any other reason to do it.

On the rc8s there are 2 small Phillips head screws on the tops of the fork tubes. These are for bleeding air and i back them out before every ride as a habit. I do hear z bit of a hiss sometimes, but not all the time, guess it depends on your ride. I believe there is a ktm part that replaces these screws with spring loaded push buttons for quick and easy use.
