Default Low Fuel Message on RC8 display

I have a new RC8 and I've notice there is no visual fuel gauge... unless I'm not seeing it. When I get a Low Fuel message it displays trip fuel (I believe) a minimum range and maximum range. Can someone kindly explain what that means. Thank you.

There's no fuel gauge on my '10. I've only seen the low fuel indicator once and didn't really pay attention to the other info displayed. Just headed for the nearest gas station.

There's been an occasion where the Low Fuel message appeared and I was not near a gas station so I was a little nervous. I find it odd that the info seen on the display is not mentioned in the owner's manual.

I just made a mental note of how many miles I had gone when the indicator came on and now always fuel up before I reach that mileage. I believe it was about 120 miles or so. I always reset the trip meter when I refuel.

On my 2010 R, there is a setting for low fuel indicator to appear when fuel reaches certain level. This level is adjustable i believe.

Its all in the manual. The RC8R or any RC8 does not have a fuel gauge at all. It does have a low fuel light. The sensitivity or refresh rate can be adjusted in the setup menu in the dash. The level that it triggers is not adjustable.

My set up is in Kilometers. Depending on use I get 170kms up to 250kms before the low fuel light comes on. You generally get a max of 50kms before you run dry after that.

Try not to run too long on reserve because when really low the bikes have a habit of collapsing the fuel filter in the tank. Once this happens fuel starvation will occur until the filter is replaced. Typical symptoms is loss of top speed or not been able to rev above about 6,000.

The min and max range is just that. The min and max range is calculated on the fly depending on throttle opening and load. Take it easy and you will meet those ranges. Go hard and watch the ranges reduce very quickly in front of your eyes.

on my 11 there is also no fuel gauge.

I only get a light when i get low fuel.
I did not like the low fuel light would almost stay on for 8 mins after i would fill up. I did not know what that was. There is way you can change the timer so it will turn the light off quicker.

not sure if that helps you any.
