Default Cartagena Track day

Thanks for the response yesterday - going for a 2011 Rc8R.

I am gonna take bike on a 3 day track event at Cartagena / Spain in February next year...and I'd like some advice please?

1. Does anybody know if you can get the Super 98 fuel at this circuit?(anyone been before?)
2. Im a fan of Michelin power Pures - used them on my 2008 ZX10r - are they suitable for the KTM, because its delivery is different. Any recommendations for a track biased tyre?
3. Quick-shifter - anybody got any experience with them on an 'R' . Are they practical off track - or is it too difficult to drive thru town with one?
4. Blipper box - do they interfere with the ECU opening the throttle slightly on down changes?
5. Anyone know a good resource for suspension settings for a 15 Stone man - I line near Maxton suspension - but if anybody has alternative resource.

All advice is very gratefully received. Thank you...

My 2 cents to your questions:

1. don't know you may have to call them.
2. Get the stickiest tire you can afford and invest in tire warmers for the track. Tire feel and recommendation is very subjective, you'll have to pick one, try it and make your own determination, use everyone's opinions with a grain of salt.
3.I have the Bazzaz system, you can ride your bike on the street, just shift as you normally would using the clutch, or the SW will allow you to turn it off completely I believe.
4. Never used a blipper box, not sure of the benefits/tradeoffs. I recommend feeling the bike out and learn to blip downshift mechanically first, electroncis sometimes just get in the way.
5. I am about 15 Stone (210 lbs), my sag for the track was setup to about 34mm front, 37 rear if I remember correctly, but that is also very subjective, you have to feel it out and the sag will definitely be a little different for track than for street, not to mention dampening and compression settings. Find a suspension Guru at the track to help you on the spot so you can take it out for a session and then provide feedback for fine tuning.

Good luck and take it easy first time out, find your rythm and mentally remember it's a track day, not a race! ;-)

Cheers,
DPerez

for fuel yes all the Repsol gas stations around the area sell 98 there .

i have used both the Dunlop and Pirelli slicks there both worked very good

i run the Bazazz quick shifter with the race / reverse shift pattern its helps a lot

never used one

the R suspension is sprung pretty well for your weight at the circuit a few clicks here and there and you should be fine .

invest in a suter slipper before you head there i ran there the first time without one and lost the rear on the way in 2 times on the same corner putting me in the gravel but once the slipper was fitted it was fine .

what gearing are you running ? i think i had 17/40 last time a ran there but i can check if you like

also get the g2 throttle cam 0.25 as its hard to get the throttle to the stops with the standard one between some on the corners and you dont want to be taking a second bite of it .

hope this helps
