Smile New RC8 owner... need some advice on parts

Hello everyone,

I just bought a 2010 leftover RC8 today, and I am dying to ride it... to bad April is so long from now.

Anyways, as part of the deal, I can buy any accessory I want at 10% over dealer cost and was wondering what everyone is doing (and what they paid)...

I am def going to put the Akra muffler, debating on the headers... but also want to get rid of those ugly rear signals and plate holder... are they any better options than what KTM is offering?

any advice will be appreciated...

also, and more importantly, are KTM's experiencing swelling of the plastic fuel tanks?

I had the tank on my last bike (Apriia) changed under warranty (due to warping from the US using more ethanol in our fuel) and my brother also did on his Ducati...

the reason that I ask is that now is the time (before fuel is put into the tank) to have it coated with Caswel's epoxy coating.

Has anyone experienced any problems yet?

Additionally, should I change any of the sprocket sizes?

The G2 throttle has a "smoother" profiled cam that the throttle cable twists around. One of the first things RC8 owners notice is the "all or nothing" throttle, this makes acceleration much more gradual and gets rid of the "jumpiness". http://www.ktmcyclehutt.com/ktm-part...treetBikes-all

AKRA comes with headers they sell the hole thing, but if you get FMF you don't get headers but they fit perfect this is my 2 RC8 on the first 1 I bought FMF on the first and on this 1 I got AKRA. IF u have any question pm me. Bazzaz is a must to have quickshiftter is amazing believe me when everybody has to let the throttle go u shift without clutch and full speed AMAZING...........

Thanks for all the responses, everyone.

So, the Akra muffler will not fit on the standard headers? That's really odd being that they sell the muffler and headers separately. Are you guys sure about this?

Wow, that really sucks, I wasn't planning on spending $3,500.

Aside from that, what do I do about mapping? Does the dealer just flash the bikes ECU?

The UK guys are buying JC Exhausts. About $1,150 US shipped. Mounts to stock headers.

akra Part Number: 69105283000 is the muffler and Part Number: 69105907000 is the headers you will need to order the two parts, the dealer can flash the ecu for you but you can use tune ecu cable to load a new map to the ecu yourself

ive got the JC Exhaust with 2011 akra map flashed to the ecu
