Idle Issue on LC-4 400
Hello, I just bought a 2001 LC-4 400 with 38 miles on it. The bike looks basically new. It sat up for 8 years while the owner was over seas on work. It started out with it being hard to keep running when cold. The idle would race one minute then idle down and die the next. Looking it over I found that one of the throttle cables(return cable?) was not even in the bracket at the carberator. I suspect they forgot to hook it up and reset everything after cleaning the carberator. After fixing that it now cranks up fine when cold, runs good, but once it gets good and warmed up the idle drops down and it dies. I tried increasing the idle, which helped initially but as soon as you bump the throttle the idle starts racing. Just can't seem to find a sweat spot. I noticed that it has a modified air box to let more air in, and I remember him mentioning that it had been re-jetted. He said he took it into the dealer and had them replace the fork seals and clean the carberator. Any idea?
Also, If anybody knows of a good KTM mechanic in the North Texas area that could give this bike a good once over that would be great. If I have to I'll drive a good ways to get it to a good mechanic.
Thanks,
Matt
