Here's a video of my second track day of the season.. .assorted highlights... lasts around 22 minutes...
If you want to see the good stuff there's a few really good laps around the 12 minute mark. Battling it out with a CBR1000 and a GSXR1000. Really wish I had the dual spark motor on the track bike.... Would make a huge difference...
On a side note, tore the hell out of a Pirelli SC3 Rear in 2 sessions. First session had some very mild tearing at 26 psi, so I went to 28 psi second session. Totally wrong direction. Should have went to 24 psi. I likely took a whole 2 days of use out of the tire in 20 minutes... sigh....
I'm sure SlowMo will forgive me if I reply on his behalf. The track is Grand Bend Raceway in Ontario. I'm from Eastern Ontario so Grand Bend is a long haul for me. If I do a track day, it will be Shannonville, Calabogie, or Mosport (now Cdn Tire M'sport Park), all East of Toronto.
Here's a video from yesterday...
After compiling it, I noticed I'm far too nice and try to make my passes too pretty. I get stuck behind slower riders due to it.
Also notice that my poor RC8 is a bit underpowered with my fat behind on it, and that I need to get more consistent corner speed.
But, it was a very fun day.
Was running a Pirelli SC3 rear, which I had extreme cold tearing issues with (pretty much took 2 full days of wear out of the drive line in 2 sessions) after running it at the high end of recommended psi. This time, I lowered it to 24psi hot (recommended is 25-28 iirc). By the end of the day the tire looked perfect for wear, and the cold tearing was nowhere to be seen. Unfortunately, the right side of the tire was completely done. Below the wear markers. The grip it gave dropped like a stone in my last session, so I had to end it early.
When I was coming off track, the tires were extremely hot and super sticky before the end of life.
I think I'm going to buy another one and see how it goes at the lower psi right from the beginning.
Great video slowmo. I think you will be able to pass that dude with a higher corner entry speed like you said, which will setup a better drive out of the corner and let you get past him easier than a drag race to the next corner.
