Thought I would start a racing thread for race pics, upcoming events, race mods and race reports. Hopefully this will be of benefit and interest to a lot of people in the 690 community.
Found this latest pic from Phillip Island meeting earlier this year.
St George MRC 1st meeting for the year is on 11/12th February at Sydney Motorsport Park
Yeah Matt both days, won't find out garage allocations till a week out . I will post it when I know. Because the BEARS race is generally oversubscribed the organisers sometimes move F4 and F5 bears into unlimited retro as we are the slower of the group.
Garage allocations are up for the first meeting at Eastern Creek this weekend. Garage 46 for me. Not far to walk to scrutineering for a change. Full BEARs grid from F1 Panigales, RSV4s, BMWS1000Rs to F5 Monster 695s, Gen 3 690, Gen 4 690 and 690 SMC. The bikes spread out a lot as you would expect , 200hp bikes on the track the same time as 60hp bikes but the class races are usually quite close. Qualifying/Practice starts at 9am Saturday racing around 10am.

Thats quite a good info package youve started , thanks Jordo .
When you get all the info and post it in your duke section, the team helpers would also like to make another media package thread in ready to race forum>moto track
The weekend was very hot, air temp was 46'C and track temp was 67'C on Saturday which made the whole experience quite different. I skipped the practice session and went out in qualifying, 3 or 4 laps and was very cautious as the conditions were sketchy. Had the SC2 on the rear and the Pirelli guys were saying the 0 or 1 were the best tyres for these conditions so that played with my head a bit. Racing was called off after race 4 because of the heat , we were race 7 so missed out on Saturday. Had a few beers then back to a mates for a swim. Sunday was cooler 36'C air, 52'C track which was still out of the best performance range for the SC2s. First race had a poor start and was dicing with a jockey (60kg guy) on a KTM390 which was a hoot, passed him on the last lap and blocked the lines on the corners he previously had passed me on. Beat him by .3 of a second. Couldn't catch the 2 other 690s this time due to losing them in the first lap while trying to get past slower guys due to my poor start. Second race another poor start left me again behind the slower guys, Passed 4 of them by turn 5 only to have lost contact with the other KTMs. Third overall for the day but 1.6 secs slower than my best with a 1:56:0. The other guys all ran 44s which is where I should have been so will be a tight contest when I get the starts right. Strangly enough my concerns with the tyres were unfounded as not once did I have any real moments. So racing is as much mental preparation as in bike prep. The meeting was cut short with a crash resulting in the passing of a young first time racer. I have enclosed some pics of the weekend.
For those outside Australia I thought I would post some pics of the tracks we race at. The first race this year was at Eastern Creek in western Sydney. I have posted the track layout, which I will for every race upcoming as well, the view coming on to the straight, sorry about the cars but the view from the bike cam is not quite as good and one from the dash of an rsv4 coming into turn 1. Bears grid at the last meeting totalled 32 bikes of all different configurations. Very fortunate to race at some quality tracks here.

The duke goes well at this track. Can only get about 185k down the straight but can hold this through turn one which is a major buzz. Total track length is 3.93 km. My best lap time is a 1:54 around here. The next race meeting is at Broadford in Victoria on the 1/2 April. This track is only 2.16 km and my best is a 1:10. I have included a pics but you cant see the true undulation as the aspect changes considerably
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
