Sx 144
Hi there, im new to the forum here, i am an intermediate mx rider whos in university, wanted to get back into riding and was thinking of the 2008 ktm sx 144. heard a lot of great things about this bike, and as i will not be competing anymore it sounds like the funnest alternative. 2 strokes are nothing new to me, have worked on plenty before, its just that i hear that the reliablity on the SX 144 is questionable. especially the pistons, is this true??? i am opting for the 2 stroke because of the cost effectiveness in maintenance over the thumpers, but if im gonna get into issues id rather get a 4-stroke. i really like the bike (although i haven't yet ridden it) but i dont want to get myself into a mechanical mess. any information as to the reliability issues, solutions, and maintenance tips would be greatly appreciated, and if all goes to plan i hope to purchase this bad boy in due time...
