Noob question
Hey everyone,
Brand new to the forum...great site from what I've seen. I just picked up a new (09) 530 EXC a couple weeks ago after several years w/o a dirt-bike (though I've never stopped riding). My last dirt-bike was a 96 XR600. Gotta say, the katoom is F-ing awesome! Nabbed a good deal on a demo bike (2 miles on it) that came re-jetted, and with the smog **** already removed. Anyway, although it's a beast, it's not quite the fire-breathing monster that I've read about (although it DOES wheelie wayyyyy easier than my XR). Anything obvious mods that I'm missing? Is a slip-on FMF worth the $400??? Should I discount the dealer's re-jet and go with a JD kit?? Is there some kind of baffle/plug in the header that's an obvious ditch?? I love this rig....don't get me wrong, but I kinda wanna scare myself silly on this thing. If this is as good as it gets, I'll still be happy; but obviously, if I can make it scary-fast, then hell yeah!!!
I do not have a service manual by the way.
