I don't mean to offer such a simple suggetion, but I fought this problem on my Yamaha after a top-end rebuild. Part of the rebuild was to install a new spark pulg. For the longest time, I was getting plugs correctly gapped right out of the box. In fact, I quit checking them. And that, was the problem.

The new plug was gapped at .035 instead of.024. A little correction on the gap, and the bike was back in the game. It was that simple, and I had also been through the carb at least twice.
