Default 2002 250 EXC Case Oil Leak

New KTM rider here:

I bought this bike awhile ago and haven't had time to ride it until recently. I found that the case leaks pretty bad while riding, but not when it sits. It seems that the oil being flung inside the case while riding is coming out near/behind the kick starter (not the shaft) on the top right side and runs down the back of the case. When I park the bike and the oil settles again, it stops leaking.

I'm reasonably mechanically inclined and have split the case on an old CR250 before, but have never had a KTM apart.

Should I pay a shop $90 an hour to do this work? Any special tools required?

Thanks!

Is your bike the EXC 2 stroke or the "racing" 4 stroke?

Sorry, it's the 2 stroke.

In that case the case splitting is not too bad. No special tools except
if you need to change a bearing or a seal.

Here is a good link.

Did you ever do this repair? I have the exact same leak on my 01 250 mxc.
