Default ktm noob in need of help!

so i got my first ktm the other day its an 01 ktm sx 400 it was missing a few things but it didnt look too bad and i got it dirt cheap, so anyway i just put on the new kick starter and as i feared it would not budge! so today i ripped the plastics and gas tank off i was gonna take the spark plug out but apparently you need a ktm tool that i dont have of course so anyways i found out these are screw and lock nut type valves so i though if i just adjust the valves loose if the motor frees up that would let me know that the problem is valve train related and not say like a crank or something of that nature, basically my question is should i do it? lol if not what should i do

I would agree with you that if you loosened up the valves, and now the
engine turns over it's not crank or piston related.

Can you see the rocker arms move?

found some time today and made an attempt at it but thats all it was lol, i got both intakes all the way out and one of the exhaust i tried to do it without taking the radiator off and man those exhaust are almost impossible to get to, so i basically made my own tool with a socket and a drill bit and of course dropped the drill bit in sooo this weekend ill have more time to play with it but here are some pics i snapped with my phone
