Default Dual Sport or MX bike?

I am trying to weigh up the pros and cons between owning a dual sport bike or a MX bike if neither are road leagl (in this case)?

Seems like for trail riding and the track a MX bike is the best option as it is lighter and more manageable. Why would you need lights if you dont ride in the dark?

Any reason I should choose an EXC over something like a SX?

Thanks

Unless you are planning on riding a lot of open fast terrain (desert, fire roads), you really don't need the 6 speed transmission in the EXC.

Also you can get the SX a lot cheaper than the EXC.

My 2 cents.

Enduro bike has better low rpm torque, lower max power and softer suspension.

[edit] that is to say, enduro bike has been built for enduro. Mx bike for mx. If you're not sure, and you want to buy it for enduro, buy an enduro bike (or try them out). Also, if you buy a two-stroke enduro, you only get 6th gear in new ktms. I wish mine had one, but it's a thing I can live without. If you drive mixed gravel roads and trails, you really want it. If you're not getting a new one, buy a four rather than two stroke, then. I think.
