Default New Engine? 2011 450 EXC

Hey all,

Can anyone tell me if the engine in the 2011 450 EXC is a new engine, or has it been in service in previous bike models?

The engine is not new.
It is still the 4 valve DOHC engine.

The 2011 new items are:

- New material for valve spring retainers for better reliability
- New colors
- New decals
- Handlebar protector in serial production

Thanks bajadog,

Do you know how many years this engine has been around? The reason I am inquiring is just a question of the years of proven reliability of the engine.

Seeing that you yourself owned one of these models, and are obviously an experienced owner/rider of many different machines - would you kindly take a minute to look at a question I have posted in the "Oil and Lube" forum? It is titled "Oil Change Frequency"

I would really appreciate your opinion on this matter,

THanks,

Brad

As far as I know, the engine is SOHC. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Brad,

My mistake. SOHC.

The RFS engine (pre SOHC) ended production in 2007, and the SOHC engine
started in 2008.
