Default new to forum, wondering about what ktm to get.

hey guys ive been looking at getting a ktm dirtbike for a while now, mainly becaue the dealer were i bought my sed sells them, and i could get a good price and because i just love the looks of them.

Now i have never ridden a dirtbike, or even a motorcycle, so im not sure what size to get, i was looking at the sx 250. Even though i have not ridden a dirt bike i have been ridding 4 wheelers and snowmobiles for a long time. (can am outlander 800, arcticcat crosfire 800, curently) i dont think id have a hard time adapting to the 50 some hp of the sx 250?. Since my sled has 160hp

so just wondering what you guys would suggest, how reliable are the 250 2 stroke and how far they can go on a tank? i wont be doing any racing mostly dirt trails.

just want your advice thanks.

welcome to the forum...just joined tonite lol!

If yer looking to trail ride, I'd prolly shy away from the SX line...maybe look at the XC/W line....even tho I really don't know jack about KTM's yet.

I'm wondering if I should get a 200 or 250 XCW for the trail/free riding I'm gonna be doing around here. I'm using to current 4 stroke MX bikes...don't really have any 2 stroke experience tho.

Hope this helps just a tad.

The new 250 EXC are extremely reliable.
I have not read any about any major design flaws at all.

On my Berg (300cc KTM made engine I bet) I get well over 60 miles on half a
tank. My tank is 2.9 gallons.
I would guess a 250 with a 2.5 gallon tank should get well over a hundred
miles before hitting reserve (unless your are on a motocross track).

Like HD1911 said, stay away from the SX line (4 speed only) unless
you are just into riding tracks.

allright well i was ooking on the ktm site and it says 5 speed for the sx, and 6 speed for the xc. so that must include the nutral gar i dunno. but on the canadian ktm site it shows the `xc` line up as the ``150xc 250xc and 300 xc`` is it the same as the exc line up? cause there all 4 strokes.

does the xc have a headlight? and are they street legal? only reason why i was looking at the sx is because its alot cheaper. but the 300 xc looks like a nice bike it also has the 3.04 gallon tank.

The 250 SX is a 2 stroke, and the SX-F is a 4 stroke, but
you are right the did go to a 5 speed.

None of the two strokes have headlights, nor do the XC or XC-W.

I think only the XC-F and XCW-F have headlights.

It's a question if you want 2 or 4 stroke.
