Default Issues with speedo/trip odometer on 300XCW

Hello Team Orange,
I picked up my new (to me) 07 300 XC-w last fall and just love the bike.

I have noticed some little quirks on the past few rides. The digital speedo, hour meter and odometer has a trip odometer function. It seems that a few times a ride, the trip odometer zero's itself out and starts over without any input from me. I planned on going over the electrical connections and lubing them with dielectric grease. It only looks like one set of wires is connected to the speedo, out of three. As it's my first KTM I'm not sure what the others are for. Also there was no battery or electric start on the 07's, is there a battery in the speedo?

Does anyone have other ideas on where else I should check? I really love having a trip odometer and have little interest in going to a trail tech or other option, I'd just like the stocker to work all the time.
Thanks,
Rich

Not sure if this answers all your questions, but yes
there is a battery in your speedo/odo to retain volatile
memory.

For $5 that will be my first step, thanks for the suggestion.

Bajadog, looks like you nailed it! One new battery and the trip odometer seems to be keeping in the memory.
I did go thru the electrical connecters with some electric grease to keep the water out but I think the battery was the key.
Thanks a bunch,
HC
