Default 2005 525exc wont start after washing out on drummond island

CAN ANYONE POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. i WAS RIDING ON DRUMMOND ISLAND A WEEK AGO AND WASHED OUT IN A TIRE RUT AND THE BIKE SLID OUT IN APPROX 3 FEET OF WATER. I TRIED TO KEEP HER RUNNING BUT IT STALLED WHEN I PULLED IT UP. I TOOK IT BACK,CLEANED THE CARB, CHANGED THE OIL (SOME WATER GOT IN) AND NOW IT HAS SPARK BUT WONT START. IT ALSO SEEMS TO TURN OVER FASTER THAN PRIOR TO THE SPILL. CAN ANYONE HELP?

I'd pull one valve inspection cover, the spark plug, and turn the kick starter
by hand to make sure you did not break the cam chain. This cam chain issue
was reported on Thumpertalk a few years back with a 2002 400EXC.

Thanks for the input BAJADOG. I will check it out. I never heard any noise to suggest it broke and it truns over well. Wouldnt the chain bind inside and prevent the rotation?

Depends where it broke, and if it broke at the timing gear near #18 (or broke the timing gear woodruff key #7), it would mostly just hang from the cam gear.

Good morning to all. I checked the valves last night and everything is moving as it should. Tried to run a compression check but due to the plug hole depth I could not tighten the hose and compress the oring to get an accurate reading. I did pull 60psi but again I am not confident the gauge was completly sealed when I performed the check.

So you have compression, spark and fuel.

The only other issue I would suspect might ignition timing or wet connections
on the CDI or black box.

Sure you are getting fuel through the carb.

One additional question. If the CDI is no good will I still have spark at the spark plug?
