Default EXC 520 leaking cooling water - help

Hi all and hello,

I am new to this forum, KTM's and could use some help - probably n00b question.

I have had an EXC 520 for a while - unfortunately due to work it's been sitting in the garage mostly. I have been overseas for work fir a while and now started the funbag after a year of it sitting around. Kickstarting it was amazingly easy and it ran very smoothly. I thought I'd let it run a bit and warm up but after about 10-15 minutes I heard a bursting pop and saw cooling water squirting out. Unfortunately I couldn't see immediately where exactly it was coming from (with the steam and all) and turned of the bike.
I don't really think it's the cooler that's broken but assume it's more a hose of some sort.

Is there any known place that tends to break on the 520's? Any tips on how to find it? (obviously I don't want to run it for too long though).

Any help very much appreciated
cheers
Ron

BTW I called the "local" shop but they weren't exactly helpful by stating I'd need them to come pick it up and take it in for service - especially after having had it there for the regular services before.

Sure it's not coming out of the water pump weep hole (shifter side of bike)?

On mine before I installed the cooling fan if I let it run for 10-15 min without moving it would over heat. The popping noise could be the pressure getting to high and popping the relief. You might make sure it wasn't just that before digging into it to much.

Hey guys,

thanks A LOT for the help ... and sorry for the delay.

Out of lack of time I did end up paying some ludicrous money to get it picked up and serviced and the guys actually ended up being really nice.

LUCKILY it was just one of the hoses that had gone old and popped so all in all it's not that pricey.

thanks again for your helps!

ride on
Ron
