Default Does my 2 stroke have an oil filter????

I just called a local motorcycle shop and asked them about what oil I should use in my 1995 250sx. He told me what to use, and he also told me to change the oil filter????? I didnt know a 2 stroke had an oil filter. If it does, where is it?

ok, I called him back because I didnt find anything online saying that the 2 stroke had an oil filter. He said he thought I was refering to a 4 stroke, so in fact the 2 stroke doesnt have oil filters. Thanks anyways.

Chance,

Your two stroke has transmission oil, and there is an interval to change
that.

My last two stroke required a 30 hour oil change in the tranny.

I used to use Golden Spectro.

I know they have synthetics now, but they cost double.

If you have a 2 Stroke, he gave you the wrong oil recommendation if it was for the engine.

2 Stroke oils are made specifically these days to blend with the gasoline and burn, unlike oil of years past.

For the transmission, AMSOIL Product Code MCF 10W-40 or any quality Motorcycle Specific 10W-40 will work.

With a high quality Synthetic, you should notice much smoother shifts.

And I was directing my post toward the OP... Didn't want him to try and use regular oil in the engine.
