1st post looking for advice

I currently own an 02 XR650L that I ride to work occasionally (32 miles each way) I love the bikes reliability with 11k on the odometer and nothing but light general maintenance this bike is rock solid, also love the torque and the magic button. Things I dislike weight ( this thing is truely a pig ) Height (being 5' 8" ) you can see why. I want a bike I can road register and have enough bike to get 65mph out of w/o coming apart, I have to also be able to ride in the woods which I have a hard time with the XR (big/heavy) I could forgo the trips to work on the bike but I would like to ride to different areas to get off road. I have seen a couple 525 EXC listed for sale here locally and wonder if these would be a good fit for me. Any help will be greatly appreciated

Sorry I missed you post earlier.

Those 525 EXC are taller than the XR650L, and since they are
a linkless rear suspension, you can get a lowering link to drop
the seat height.

My buddy I ride with got a DRZ400, and the kouba link to lower it 1.5".
