Default My first KTM

hey whats up im 26 from so cal and I wanted to get my first KTM this september. I was gonna get a 2010 250 2 stroke right when the 2011's come out to try getting a deal on it. I've owned every other brand including a husqvarna, is there any mods I should do right away? Anyone know what exhausts work well for racing and don't allot of racing clubs allow the 2 stroke to race 250F's now?

Sup Foggy,

Welcome to Team Orange.

First thing most guys do is exhaust.

FMF SST pipe is highly rated, and adds about 2 hp.

As far as a good quieter silencer FMF Turbine Core II Q Silencer is
nice because it has a spark arrester, and is under 96 db.

Suspension is critical, so you might want to get resprung and or
revalved.

Good luck.

thanks for the advice man, I have had some bad FMF expieriences in the past but I know the SST is a really good pipe. Would you say the fork or back end needs more attention on thse bikes?

The suspension on most racing KTMs are set up for about 170 lb riders.

If you are around that weight, just try riding it and see if it's handles well.

I am 6'2" 210 lbs, so I have had to have most of my bikes re-sprung.

As far as FMF, I've never really had any issues with them. I guess
every product might have a lemon though.

I been doing the gym and diet thing and down to 190 at 6 even and I hard hard so I'm guessing I'll want it stiffened some.

I've been a pro circuit guy mostly but my 03 Honda 250 I went through 2 FMF factory pipes (bike was Grant's practice bike he rode once) and came with the pipe and their titanium silencer. The pipe got smashed on the curve in a corner spill right on the frame rail then the saem pipe I replaced it with did the same thing not long after. The silencer' end cap inside the end was like broken off so it moved around in the very end, looked like it would be blocking exhaust flow. I changed it to a Bill's pipe set up and liked the power more, as all mid range with the FMF.
