Default Possible 1st time KTM owner!

Hello guys,

My name is John. Looking at getting into riding dirtbikes again. Been off of them since 2007. Did the Roadracing and Trackday thing for about 2 years with an R6 and R1....got hurt too many times and went broke lol

I am looking at getting into a KTM for the first time....only rode Jap bikes in the past.

Looking to do mostly woods and free riding out in the country with the occasional MX Track in the mix...although me and big jumps don't mix

Looked at a NEW 2009 200 XCW at the local stealership today...but really don't know where to start.

Any help, suggestions/opinions would be appreciated and welcome.

Thanks in advance!

Yep me and Chris are in the same boat...we wanna start riding again and he wants mainly an MX bike that can do a lil trail and offroading with me and I want a Woods/Grand Prix bike that can handle a lil MX with him.

If you can find a 2010 or 2011 model the 250 EXC 6 day is
what all my riding buddies ride.

I went Berg just to be non-conformist.

That thing is SICK!!!!

I might have to wind up buying a used bike and save some money. Need to buy all new gear again and some equipment to be able to ride again.

Man I saw a new Berg' at the local KTM dealer and it was Uber Sweet! It was a 540 or something like that I believe.

Right now there are two different 04 250 EXC's on my local Craigslist (Evansville, IN) and I am kinda interested in that. Would that be a decent bike to get back into off road riding?

Those would be good starting bikes.
Light, easy to start, LOW maintenance 2 stroke.

If you were living in Kalifornia, I'd say stay away from 2 strokes (getting harder
to find areas to ride).

Why is Commie-fornia against two strokes? Do they hate all things fun?

All the tree huggers that we have in this state think all off road
vehicles are bad. Then they get into their gas burning BMW and
go to starbucks.

Since I started riding offroad as a kid in the
1970's almost all the trails around 30 miles of my home
have closed. Now I have to drive 50 miles into our local mountains
or go into Mexico to ride.

Man I hate to hear that for ya. It's weird because alot of the "good" land for riding trails and woods and open terrain around here has gotten gobbled up by either the Coal Mines or some Corporate Development....it really is a shame man. I miss being out in New Mexico and Texas and just Free-riding....tons of Open Areas to just do whatever you wanna do.
