What's up peoples
Can't be more excited
Just picked up a new 690 r, no pics to share. Grabbed that little fresh virgin Friday @ lunch. Biggest tease ever, sitting in the back of my truck while I worked the rest of the day. I did get to quickly rip 40 miles when I go off.
Took two miles for me to come off a local winding road @ a pretty good clip, to a str8 away and low and behold....Johnny law was driven right towards me on a vacant road staring @ me, hit the front brakes (new bike, new 'sic' brakes, smilin ear to ear pilot)...of course my front dipped way down after I gripped the front brake to hard.... Immediately, I watch the po po slow down to flip a U e once I had passed, so I'm still smiling inside, I slowed down and watched him stic his hand out to stop me...so i stopped....the cop w/ a grin on his face said 'hey buddy, slow it down a bit'....I said ' yes sir, thanks I appreciate it'... He probably could feel my excitement, cuz in my area that was an immediate ticket.
So that was my first day, feeling some fun coming my way
Figured I had to say hello and share a bit about my immediate experience, considering over the last year my research has brought me here amongst other sites.
First NEWB question. Can someone help me come up with a solid tool kit for the road, spare tubes, cheap pair of pliers I've got ( seperate for tire tongs), but I'm pretty much oblevious to what else I need and any suggestions are much appreciated
Looking forward to some fun times

Welcome and congrats on the new ride. Cool that you just got
a warning not a ticket.
Here is the best tool kit I have found (I have the fanny pack type).

I picked up a brand new 2010 last week as well and have that same stupid grin on my mug.
I got the tool kit with mine though and there's 1 or 2 proprietary tools included but nothing that you won't be able to work around with a decent quality generic kit.
That said, the only aftermarket tool I've ordered so far is this spanner so I don't have to pull the shock out for adjustment. http://www.ktmcyclehutt.com/ktm-part...tment=bigbikes
Just hope it works. I used the spanner I have and the collar seems really hard to turn even after spraying a bit of WD.

Mine came with the kit so I'm assuming yours should have as well. There was a whole box of goodies including grab handles, kickstand tie down, passenger pegs, portfolio with manuals, and tool kit. Maybe it was overlooked but definitely call the dealer.
And I hear you about the rain. I picked the bike up a week ago in a snow storm and there hasn't been a day since there hasn't been rain. Thunderstorms predicted all week. I'd just like a day to scrub the tires. I just came off an R1 with Pilot Pures so the transition to knobs on the wet, cold street has got my pucker factor up.

figured i would give an update in case someone finds themselves in my situation.
first i called KTM to make sure that my bike (11' ktm 690r) was suppose to come with some sort of toolkit. The lady i spoke with was very friendly and helpful, she basically said 'yup, it should'
In short, called the dealer and let them know that i want my f'ing toolkit...haha, i said it more like a gentleman. They said they would get on it and it 'possibly' got misplaced during the uncrating process..sounded fishy, but mistakes happen and they are on it now.
So thats it, happy trails peoples
Rio, i'm from NJ...that small little state under NY...some call it the armpit state , but i call it home
