Good Evening everyone! I just purchased a new 690 Duke up here in Canada and wanted to say hello. Spring has been slow coming up here, so I have only put 280KM on the bike since buying over the winter. My previous ride was a 2003 Z1000 (in Orange of course). I miss it, but the Duke is much more nimble and suited to my riding style (Motocross background).
Before the Z1000 was a 2004 Kawasaki KLR650 which I had converted to a supermoto (don't laugh). So I miss that "thumper" sound and feel. I have attached a pic of the KLR - It will make sense once you see it.
Anyways - a cool tip/trick that I just taught myself while upgrading my throttle tube tonight. I had upgraded the stock handlebar grips over the winter with some new ones; I would have hated to have to cut/buy new ones so soon, but with the "generous" amounts of grip glue I used, there should have been no way to remove without damaging.
With the old tube/grip in hand, I decided to try putting inside a pot of "not quite" boiling water. After about 5 min I took out and the grip came right off. the old throttle tube is still intact and good to go in case of emergency. Saved myself some $$$ and didn't have to destroy anything.
Cheers to all!
