Bike virgin

Hi all,
Been riding a can am 650 quad last year on the michigan trail system,
Love it,
Really wanted a bike,so
Told the dealer I wanted a ktm for trail riding,
Something to hold my fat ***,
They sold me a 2011 ktm 450 sxf.
Good looking bike, monster of a machine.
Come to find out, It is not legal to trail ride.
I believe I need a spark arrestor and possibly new exhaust?
Is that it?
also was way to fast for the trail's anyway.
I took it on one and all I could do was idle in 1st gear most of the way.
That suck's
I now know I bought the wrong bike,
Currently looking for a used 250 enduro cheap.
Any help would greatly be appreciated,

Welcome.

That seem kind of wrong for a dealer to point you at
that line from KTM. They should have asked what kind of
riding you do.
If you end up keeping the bike Pro Moto billet makes spark arrestor
screen caps for the SXF.

The SX line from KTM are essentially track bikes, mostly MX etc.

I'd ask the dealer if you could trade for a 450 EXC.

Will be buying one of those this week,
As far as keeping the bike,
I believe i'm stuck with it for now,
cause I financed part of it,
I could make extra payments and probably pay it off in a year,
year and a half,
Possibly trade it in on an enduro.
Not only did they sell me the wrong bike but they sold me a bike
with a dead battery,brought the bike back,
they put a new battery in,so they said .
A week later the battery won't hold a charge,
So I had to go out and buy a new one myself.
It start's up with no problem's now.
