ktm 450 exc 5 gears???

hi, I'm new to the forum but not new to bikes.

I'm currently interested in a 2003 ktm 450 exc, it goes well and its looks good.

There's a few photos of it!

But, there's one thing about it I'm not sure about, the guy said that it's only got 5 gears.....
Now as far as i know, ktm didn't make a 450 exc with only 5 gears since even before 2003, also the ktm dealer that I spoke to said the same.

I want to know why this one apparently has 5 gears and not 6 like all the others?.
Different gear box put in? Broke a gear some how? Please list all the possibilities that could be the reason for this so that I can make good a decision on buying it.

the guy just didnt know he had a 6th gear!

The SX model had 5 gears.

Some folks would put the EXC/MXC transmission into the SX bikes in
the past.

That's pretty wild not knowing about the top gear in your own bike....
