New 01 300exc owner
Hey gang,
I just picked up an '01 300exc today and I'm looking for any online info I can find about setups, reviews, etc. I found a link for specifications pretty easy but real details I'm not finding, any recommendations/links would be appreciated.
I was going to buy a '96 model and found a lot more info on that year model but then a Craigslist "steal" came up and I scored this one.
I'm stoked with the few minutes I got to ride it before buying, I've lusted for a 300exc since I was riding/racing regular (Honda CR250) and now I've got one.
It seems to me that a serious rider had it at one time (it's got an FMF pipe and muffler, Enduro Engineering clutch upgrade, fatty bars and triple clamp upgrades, the shock has a PDS stamp on it so maybe it's been worked on?) but it's got some small things that need to be addressed now like chain guides/rollers, small crack on the magneto cover that lead me to think it's been through some owner(s) that just flogged it and didn't maintain it. I bought it from a guy that just bought it as his first bike and it scared him so he put it up for sale.
Oh, the funny thing is, I had a deal worked out from the guy he bought it from on Craigslist but that guy screwed me over, so I paid an extra 200 bucks to wind up with the same bike. When he posted it on Craigslist and I called him he told me how he got it and as we talked we put two and two together. The dumba$$ that screwed me over? He would've made an extra $250 on what I bought the bike for today. People amaze me...
