hey guys, new to the forum :)

finally getting into dirt bike riding.

Been riding roadbikes for the past 7 years, started off on a ZX2R ninja, then went a ducati 748 and past 5 years been riding a gsxr750 ('08 model).

Done a lot of road riding, quite a few track days, and pretty keen to get a dirt bike to help again with my riding...

Not too sure what to buy though, definitely want a 250, and a 4-stroke.

What would you suggest between a SX-F 250 or a EXC-F 250?

I'm not 100% sure what i will be using it on, but it would be a mix of riding in state forest, trails etc and also here and there take it to the track for a bit of fun.

I've noticed the EXC-F has electric and kick start, but the SX-F only has kick...doesn't bother me too much, but i know electric is a lot more useful out in the bush.

As far as engines go, gearbox ratios etc, what should i expect? Same engine and power?

Whats the gearbox on the SXF like? gears too close and tall?

Any help, feedback is appreciated :)

I'm 5'7", weigh about 165lb, and want to stick on a 250 because until i can ride that like i stole it, only then i will upgrade...

Welcome to the forum.

The EXC has a 6 speed wider ratio transmission
and the SX is a 5 and close ration to get
out of the hole on a track (also to not require as many gear changes).

Both have e-start.

I'd get the EXC if it were my call.

Where are you located?

Just asking because a lot of riding areas in Kalifornia
at least are starting to only allow plated bikes.
